Angelcot Apricots
Twenty five years ago, Fruit Father Ross Sandborn got a special package with white apricot seeds from Morocco. He worked with them on his Brentwood ranch until he bred the saintly Angelcot. These little cherubs are sweet and light, and quite rare. The FruitGuys are delighted to bring you this divine annual treat. Maggiore Farms

Pacific Flavor Plums
Plum fruit is sweet and juicy. They can be eaten fresh or used in jam-making or other recipes. Plum juice can be fermented into plum wine; when distilled, this produces a brandy known in Eastern Europe as Slivovitz, Rakia, Tzuica or Palinka. Plums contain several antioxidants.

Green Plums
There are as many as 200 cultivars of European and Asian plums. These are a juicy and full bodied variety. Plums are high in fiber and low in sugars, an ideal snack.

California Donut (Saturn) Peaches
Play with your food. This week's Saturn Peach should inspire you. Hum the Stark Trek theme, or Plan 9 from Outer Space. These wondrous shapes and forms from nature may just ignite some imagination in your work.

California Yellow Peaches
Peaches come to us from China, via the Persians, along the trade routes of the Silk Road. The Chinese believed that peaches could confer immortality but the FruitGuys only promise that they're high in antioxidants Vitamin A and C. "Eat a peach" say the Allman Brothers and so do we.

California White Peaches
White peaches are super juicy and delicious!

 

California Nectarines
Peaches without the fuzz! Actually, nectarines ARE peaches but with a recessive gene that makes them a little sweeter and with a smooth skin. These come from California.

Kiwi
What fruit has the vitamin C of an orange, the potassium of half a banana, and the fiber of a half-cup of bran flakes? Hint: It's furry. Answer: Kiwi. Enjoy kiwis by peeling or simply cut latitudinally and scoop our green (or yellow) flesh with a spoon.

Valencia Orange
Citrus waves are rolling in like an endless summer, brah. The primo Valencia is old-school orange. A tangy treat to take down the hall to the dawn patrol. Slice into sections for orange smiles all around - and let the sunshine in!

 

Bananas
Here at the FruitGuys we like to dress up like bananas, because we love bananas. A perfect food, only 110 calories, 4g fiber and 1g of protein and high in potassium and Vitamin C. We love the elegant and easy to open packaging. Plus you can use a banana to make silly phone calls.

Fuji Apple
In the 1930s the Fuji apple was bred in Japan. Grafted from Virginian royalty Rawls Jennet and Iowa's Red Delicious, it has become an extremely popular apple in Japan. About the size of a baseball (yakyuu no booru,) this apple is sweet and delicious (oishii.)

Green D'Anjou Pear
The Beurre D'Anjou is a French pear that was brought to the United States in 1842. This pear is green and may yellow as it ripens. You can tell when it is ready by squeezing it delicately. Remember, pears ripen from the inside out so if it gives to your touch, it is ready. Green D'Anjous are from Washington and Oregon this week.
